For some time now I’ve been developing new ideas about furniture that includes cuir bouilli, a traditional method of hardening leather. I’ve played around with off cuts before but today I spent some time working out which times and temperatures work best for different thicknesses of leather, and percentages of shrinkage etc. I think the results were good, but it takes a while to dry so I’ll find out for sure in the next couple of days! I hope to launch a piece that includes this process this summer at Tent London, at the London Design Festival.

Wish me luck!
