Getting away from it all
Benchmark and the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) collaborated to create Wish List; a series of live briefs connecting young designers with established leaders, ‘masters’, within the design industry for the London Design Festival (LDf) 2012. Every young designer was working to a brief set by their design master under the theme of, ‘the things I’ve always wanted…’. Sebastian was paired with Sir Terence Conran. The item he had always wanted was essentially a desk, bookended by two towers that store reference books and other objects. Off these towers, Sir Terence envisaged a cotton curtain on a rail that would allow him to shut himself away and work undisturbed. Getting Away From it All is the resulting piece of furniture that Sebastian designed and made for ir Terence. You can read more about the project, here.
